Blog Redesign Spring 2008

Voilà. I now proudly present you the a redesign of philsblogging.com! I hope you like the new outlook and get to love the consistency of this a 100% self-created theme. Man, I really am proud! I ask you to be patient during the first few days since the theme moving turned out to be quite a pain, but totally worth it? Right?

As usual. Top and the top only!

What else can we expect from now on? Quality posts by Philipp as usual. Plus, I’ll try to figure out a nifty way of using the built-in gallery of Wordpress.

More information on technical topics of my blog. While the main menu with links to pages, like the Introduction (About me), links and gallery, moved to a horizontal menu bar of the top, categories and special focus reports (Lingo Bingo, Ab in’s Ausland,…) are still in the sidebar to your left - no now that changed too - to your right.

The font family changed from Lucida Grande to Geneva, a font that should bring a change to what you’ve known so far. Windows user didn’t get to see this one anyway, but with Geneva they also get to enjoy some eye candy. I like that font. If Windows doesn’t have this one installed, text is displayed in Arial. Fair enough.

After some color testing I came to the following result that slightly was tuned since the initial introduction of Sunday night. Now that I’m done you can see the color scheme and font explanation here. That green and the grey shades have been adjusted and I am glad I reached nice color codes.

No more flash headers. You’re disappointed? Well, I figured that I wanted a speedy theme running on my blog, so I had to extinguish any kind of lame-loading-time kinda thing. Sorry flash-addicts. I still will refer to youtube videos.

Speaking of the header (original files and rights found here). Its height has been slightly increased due to design issues with new pictures. New pictures supporting the topics of my blog to discover. Exciting! At the beginning of the redesign era there have been nine images shown in random order. Make sure you browse often enough to see each of it…

For the statistically interested people: This is the third redesign. Can’t believe how fast time passes by. For the fun interested people, read my first entry on this blog called Hello World in 2005.

    Awesome Redesign.
You beat me to the redesign and the creation of my portfolio page… haha.
Things look great. Just the green #8bab35, is a bit light.. and especially on white is a bit hard to read.

Phil: The colors are adjusted now. The readability should be improved by now…

Well, I’m aware of this. And I ask you guys for a little bit of patience, because I’d love to find a green that looks good in all spots and places I want it. Border beneath the header, link color, … :) It’s more complex than you would think it is :)
