Freezing NYC, Napkin Musical and Other Pranks
Improv Everywhere is famous for launching hilarious missions. Last January they decided to freeze 200 people inside the Grand Central Station hall. Now that the video got really popular (via youtube), people around the world (London - my favorite right after the NYC prank) were inspired and initiate similar missions. It does look like fun and if you think about it, there is sociopolitical criticism behind the idea of freezing people in a world always wanting to keep pace. It’s a good, thoughtful prank, though, isn’t it. Check out the video, more information and links after the jump.
Here is more information about Freezing Grand Central. See what cities around the world participated.
Freezing Grand Central Station seems like quite some work and effort. People did an awesome job.
There are also other actions done by Improv Everywhere. Check out the second video showing a Food Court Musical. “This is weird”, people said and they are most likely to be true.
I love the MP3 Experiment, too. Hundreds of people downloaded the same MP3 that gave them instructions (the instructor goes by Steven) on what to do in a public place. Great idea!
Not so great ideas… On their Frequently Asked Questions page they feature ideas visitors email them all the time as suggestions. Uh, great ideas fellas!
- Get a bunch of people to stare up at the sky and pretend like they are looking at something amazing.
- Act like a stranger (or an agent) is someone important by putting secret service agents all around him.
