Happy π Day

Today being 3/14 (American date format) I am happy to announce that Phil’s Blogging is going to hold π Day Celebrations. Here some facts about this oh so mathematically holy day:

  • The π Second will strike on March 14 at 1:59:26 pm. Make sure you take in a solemn position!
  • The π Approximation (Annäherung) Day is considered to be 22/7 (European Format - yep, that’s July 22), since 22/7 roughly equals π. The π Approximation Day comes second (in measures of “importance”) after π Day on March 14.
  • π Day coincides with Albert Einstein’s Birthday who would turn 129 today.
  • The first 10,000 digits of the happiest constant in maths can be memorized by observing the Math With Mr Herte homepage. If you fail at the 3141st digit you might want to consider to set the digits as your wallpaper (scroll down to the comments section to find the zip-file) and hope your subconsciousness will store them.
  • Print out the π Poster I found on flickr. pi-poster:gomartin
  • If you happen to not be familiar with proper π fun and π celebration, check out this How to Celebrate π Day wiki.
  • Last but not least, π IS BEAUTIFUL!
