Key Information for In-N-Out Fanatics

Last summer my host family and I were in the family van headed north to go some place, probably San Francisco or San José. We passed an In-N-Out and each of us was starving (we probably skipped breakfast) and were ready to throw in some real American food, burger and fries. The younger brother Austin claimed to have gotten wind of a special menu hidden on the usual menu but every restaurant would serve if you used special key words when ordering. The hidden menu’s name: Animal Style. More on this, after the jump.

For all the In-N-Out fanatics out there craving for the best fast food available in all of California, Metroblogging San Francisco will provide a list of key words that broadens the range of usual items available. I couldn’t have this sit on me without further investigation. Sherlock alert: Daviswiki.org provides an in depth wiki-ish entry with detailed explanations on custom drinks, burgers and fries. I came across with this by total accident and figured that my coverage of Travelling the US wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t provide this key information.

Mind you, every chain restaurant will serve you these special meals aka The In-N-Out Not-So-Secret Menu. Combos are possible. Example: Double-Double Animal Style.

Animal style burger, animal style fries, well done fries, and a neapolitan shake.

Now, that I broke the silence, go spread the news and order an Animal Style burger, Animal Style fries, Well Done fries, and a Neapolitan shake.

One final thought: I really love In-N-Out marketing strategy to keep their menus (and also their restaurants) simple, easy, transparent, clean and a specialty in the fast food restaurant field in CA (except for Vegas) on the one hand and managed to establish legendary special treatment (goodies and variations of food) for insiders. This is one wise step to keep the In-N-Out brand so special and widely admired.

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN… When I was in Cali, I saw people eating stuff that wasn’t on the menu. After asking someone, he said there were Animal Star Fries (Instead of Style, I heard Star :D)

I never had a chance to order those, but they looked delicious.

I want to go back… Loved it over there, time of my life.

We had Animal Style Fries… :) I was enjoying the regular burgers way too much to get experimental. We only have Mc Donald’s burger, they taste so different from what they should… REALLY BAD, MR MC DONALDS… Their fries are really good though :)

Well, we have a few decent burger places around, but McDonnalds isn’t one of them for sure.

I miss those burgers, they’ve been among the best I’ve had in a LONG time…

And I miss Cali, I really want to go back.. would be awesome to meet up with you there at the same time and go exploring!!
Any plans for doing that soon? Haha :D

Okay, so we meet up at a In-N-Out burger restaurant, sounds like a plan. Maybe next year? SoCal or NorCal?

Either one is fine by me.. there is tons to do anywhere you go.
If we go early in the year, maybe NorCal, so that I can get some snowboarding in as well.
If not, SoCal, and hangout at the beaches in San Diego, and surf… :D

Haha, do you know how to surf? I’d love to go for a burger and a surf for you :) Seems like these are two stereotypical things to go for in good old California :)

I don’t know where my next US trip is going to take me. New York sounds like a place that draws a lot of my attention… so I’ll check that out too!

Nope, I can’t surf, but I know how to skateboard, wakeboard, and snowboard, so just another boarding sport.. :P hehe. I’d love to try it.

Stereotypical cali - don’t forget the girls..

If you come to New York, let me know, it’s about a 8 hour drive from me, so I might be able to come spend sometime.
