What A Fett Surprise That Was
Surprise, Surprise. FM4 hosted just another FM4 Überraschungskonzert (surprise concert) in Vienna’s U4 discotheque. Fettes Brot was on the agenda for yesterday’s show and, man, that quite a majestic show. They have just finished their Strom und Drang tour and played in Linz on Wednesday (14 May), however, FM4 got them to play in Vienna to give an encore. FM4 raffled away tickets and among the winners - guess who won something valuable for his first time in his life? - was Philipp. I took Miki and Jassy (who was not on the guest list unlike Miki and me) got in anyway with using her certain “willingness” to do anything to see Fettes Brot live. Kidding.
After the guest list people were admitted, they filled up the location with people who had already been lined up around the block for hours.
We’re boiling, sweaty and about to freak out. That’s how we like it.
There were about 600 (I asked or at least this is the official number) people on the dance floor and, oh my goodness, body fluids were about to boil. It was freaking hot since the U4 totally failed to cool the rooms. People were quite pushy (as in poggen) and danced a lot. Great, hot atmosphere. I just didn’t give a darn about me sweating like crazy after a while and it turned out that this was the way to go! It was absolutely worth it, but I don’t think that my soaked clothes that stuck to my skin will ever dry off.
Fettes Brot did surprise me with this funny, thoughtful and moving show. People sang along to both slow and fast paced songs. An Tagen Wie Diesen. My favorite song right after Bettina. I wish they had a more beat-loaded version of it but I think that the instrumental (or what was that? Note: I checked and it is the Superpunk Remix with Modeselekor) band-supported version was fine too. People didn’t complain, did they? Three encore titles including Schwule Mädchen!

Read the FM4 coverage of the live event on their pages with pictures and a video showing the line getting longer and longer and the Bettina remix they performed yesterday. Hereby I want to thank FM4 for giving me the chance to see Fettes Brot live.
The “pogging” (that is bumping into people jumping up and down and freaking out a little bit according to the rhythm of the music) happy clappy people next to us came all the way from Graz (I know that because there were some pretty radical SK Sturm fans who, by the way, knew Krems because of the Millenium crap club that always got way too much attention anyway- how fortunate I can use the past tense in this parenthesis). Besides, there was this funny Gérard dePardieu kinda guy who wanted get in front of us. “Not gonna happen, buddy!” - I thought I had to put this up here somewhere.

Check out a video I captured on youtube: Fettes Brot in the U4 - FM4 Überraschungskonzert.
I feel it in my bones that this was only the beginning of a series of concerts this dreamteam (Jassy, Miki and me) will have been to during our time in Vienna (next year).
A three-word-sum-up: FUN FUN FUN!
