Organization, People, Organization

Part 7 of The Ultimate Guide To College

When it comes to the point in life where you have to leave the nest-warmth radiating life as a high school student (with teachers kicking your butt in case you don’t get the necessary things done) - well I actually was enjoying the non-contradictable “life” (nice way of putting it) as a community servant, remember? - and jump into the big pond of university, it’s all about organization, people, organization.

Me being wissensdurstig

I most certainly have to get some things done (and it’s really alienating to know that nobody is going to kick my ass if I didn’t). Bearing that in mind, I know that nobody will kick my l-a-z-y ass (spelled the wrong word, didn’t I?). Picking a schedule, getting the apartment ready and some paper work.

However, I’m ready. I can totally take it. I have “wissensdurst” (thirst for knowledge). On the left, you can see my eager-on-studying grimace that emblazons my WU student ID. After taking 2 pictures I figured that nobody has to see my student ID. Which makes me wonder why I post this on the world wide web.

You did the figuring out: I signed up for classes at the WU going for a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in International Business Administration (followed by a Master of Science - MSc; no MBA offered at a university in Austria except for the ones where you pay a boogie-load of tuition).

So that’s it for today. Keep in mind: Organization.

When Will You Realize, Vienna Waits For You?

Part 6 of The Ultimate Guide To College

Just about now, actually. Signing up for university courses is on my agenda with high priority, I’ll just wait for the summer to go on vacation for a day or so because I don’t want to miss any of the good weather Austria is being blessed and treated with at the moment.

When will you realize, Vienna waits for you?

Lieber Reader, when will you realize that Vienna is waiting for you? Maybe I can induce this desire with my upcoming Vienna tour guide. Planning on spending a weekend in Vienna? Well, I happen to have a good tour guide competence and experience.

Mini Orientation And My Branch

Part 4 of The Ultimate Guide To College

What about IBA students, huh?

I wonder where Business Administration students are depicted in this comic (outer right, I guesstimate), because as it is now, it is the branch (International Business Administration) I’ll pick most likely - 70% and gaining… After the jump, you’ll find out how my mini orientation went!

The Myth of High School Cliques

American teenage subcultures are featured in the majority of American teenage movies. As a result, teenage movies are loaded with stereotypes. We’ve seen American Pie, we’ve watched Mean Girls and most Europeans love to watch American TV productions. You name them. Shows and movies dealing with teenage troubles automatically are set in a world that is divided into social groups, the so-called cliques.

Questions on Housing

Part 3 of The Ultimate Guide To College

Dorm, Villa or Apartment - What’s it gonna be for you, Master Philipp?

One point I hardly mentioned in the series I’m On My Way is where I’m going to stay once university doors close late at night until I rush into the first lectures scheduled for 6 am. U-Bahn (underground) stations are no option here.

This question is actually quite crucial and quintessential for me since this is going to be the one of the biggest changes of all. University, a pool of students ready to roll off several parties and catch some obligatory lectures whose absent would set up your parents and get you kicked out, itself should be exciting, at least during the first couple of days, but living on my own, oh this must be like holiday, except prolonged for the whole year. Haha. Like with any other great power comes great responsibility, Philipp… Continue reading

My Options, All Open

Part 2 of The Ultimate College Guide

Options turn out be quite useful for pray being cornered by K9 German shepherd like questions about future usually starting with something like that: Well, so, now that you’re done with school, what cha gonna do my friend?

What cha gonna do my friend?

Today’s college guide will depict all my options, that are all open, not compulsory and merely serve as a collections of what’s possible from the point I’m at right now. Post-Matura-Identity crisis is the political correct term for this turning-with-the-winds (”orientational” state of mind.

As I laid out my associations with my dream job in last weeks edition of I’m On My Way, I haven’t quite told you about options apart from the optimistic and not so realistic approach. It sounds great to think that you’ll climb the ladder of success, end up as a CEO of a huge company and retire with a 1 billion compensation after 40 years of heart-attack-promoting years, right? Mind-Mapping My Mind

Part 1 of The Ultimate College Guide

Very much indeed. I’m on my way to entering college next year. Or, let’s rephrase this and say that I should be on my way to college and spend hours thinking about what I want to make out of my life. After having been pestered with questions about future and what it should have in store for me, I finally decided to utter my ideas about this topic publicly, so that questions related with college/university are covered. This is my Ulimate Guide to Philipp’s College Decision. Hopefully I will be able to create a series out of this sujet and tell you about the whole process of finding, enrolling at and experiencing the branch of study I will have picked by August 2008. BRG Ball Absolut Absurd
