Where No Phil Has Gone Before

Lower Austria, the final frontier. Endless. Silent. Waiting. This is the story of the Red Cross KTW X. Its mission: a nine-month-patrol of the “galaxy.” To seek out and contact all alien (sometimes, it seems really alien to urbanized individuals) life or at least the one that is in need for typical Red Cross-ish and “not so medical” (most of the times) help. To explore (rather to help). To travel the vast galaxy, where no man has gone before. A trek to places that have me go “where the heck?!”

Check out the places I have been during my nine-month-patrol.

A Google map embedding that will be constantly updated. I’m still doing some hard hard brain work where I’ve been already, but this should cover most of it.

Ask And Ye Shall Receive

Obviously, starting a blog post to encourage the broad readership of today’s hip blogs is the newest things on the block, so here I am, going for it!

Ask a question - and by that I really mean any question - you always wanted to have answered by me (and not Einstein, so please spare me the scientific explanation kind of Qs) and I will do my best to find a proper answer for it. Continue reading

Sensing A Generation Gap?

When having discussions about modern trends it happens to me, surprisingly more frequently than ever, that I sense somewhat of a generation gap. Everything started with the Emo-trend that was kicked off last summer. People obviously don’t really know what being emo(tional) is all about, but that’s cool. Mostly.

Now, after the mispronunciation of Emo (ay-mo instead of ee-mo - the trend’s roots are in the English speaking world, so what’s you freakin point? Or do you say Punk like poo-nk), this whole “Krocha”-trend is quite disturbing… Continue reading

Die Lange Nacht des Schweigens

The 70th anniversary of the Annexation of Austria to Hitler-Germany was the occasion for a memorial event on Heldenplatz. This place, like no other, requires a lot of explanation for people who do not fully comprehend the history of Austrian national-socialism. Last Christmas break I realized how big of an issue this place is when I hosted some friends from CA. Continue reading

Scotland Meets Austria Meets America

Oh, what a lovely connection. Innocent Scottish sheep meets kinky weirdo Austrian meets perfidiously maliciously megalomanic American. See the brand new bubblesnaps (link to a list of bubblesnaps entries on PHB) from December 07 and January 08. Continue reading

Another Year Vroomed By

Another year has just vroomed by. Just like that. Snap with your fingers and that’s how fast it felt to me. Happy New Year to all of my readers. 2008 will have a lot of things in store for me. Great decisions and new challenges are ahead. I get all excited when I think of the upcoming year.

New Year’s Eve Party pictures can be seen here. I think we found a way to party into 2008 in a quite successful fashion.

Here are some keywords that show off what we accomplished in the year of 2007: Graduation. California 2 including Vegas, Baby. Work. Scotland. Continuing XO-Tradition. Austria Exchange… What else, lieber Reader?

Kick It Off, Los geht’s!

I am happy to announce that my hostbrothers from Californ-I-A are visiting and staying with my family for a couple of days. We do have a tight schedule, because our time is limited. However, I am so glad that we could work something out. This weekend we are going to tour in Vienna, meet up with another friend from San Francisco.

New Year’s Eve we will party at my place. If you want to get to know them, call me and I’ll tell you where to meet.

Next week Wednesday, I’d say we go for the buy one get two cocktails. Sounds good to me. Ice skating, Ulrich sitzen (sitting, this term is wayyyy too Austrian for me to put it into English). Los geht’s!

NEW: See the gallery for pictures of Vienna, Krems and our Night Activities. :)
