Outlook

Now that I am out of high school, I realized (how? As you can see in the cloud tag, school-related items have a bigger font size) that I had definitely put the focus of entries on school and school-related topics. I really enjoyed bringing so-called “Versprecher” (slips), pictures and updates about stories that were about to develop. However, things will change. Having work and social service approaching does have an impact on how I see things. I do make my own money now and it is quite comfortable, believe me.

So back to my blog: Everything seems to be more global nowadays. Visitors from over 45 countries hit my page in the last three months (mostly not intentionally, I assume, but still) — on top of the global factor, I have never had so many visitors, so thanks to you, lieber Reader. And since I have been able to record an increasing (in numbers) readership, I decided to pimp my blog. You can read in my last post (Open Letter) what has already changed. Continue reading

Syntax, Grammar, Errors

Yes, people judge you in case “ya gramuh ain’t no good”

Syntax, Grammar, Errors: 3 words that go together way too well. — Having just added one of my newly discovered blogs, I wanted to show you how hilarious the “Oh - you - dumbass - you - messed - up - your - syntax - so - ridiculously” - blogs turn out to be. As I said on the blogroll page (the link archive that you surely love to browse), you have to visit that page every once in a while, since it has some crucially educational aspect*. I love the entries and more importantly the famous “Oh-I-can-do-better”-comments. Here’s the background story. The Indianapolis Star used the phrase “the couple are getting married…”, but in strict US English it obviously seems to be wrong (UK would work fine). Notice the comma-affair in the parenthesis (This kind of made me remind of the Beistrichtesting [how-to-put-commas-correctly-testing] we had to cope with last year in high school). Cheeky that is, I know.

samkay64 said… But the Indianapolis Star is not in England. It should use the singular for band, group, and family. (Does my second comma annoy you? I can’t help it; I love it!)

Another lovely blog: The “BLOG” of “UNNECESSARY” Quotation Marks — Speaking of mistakes in syntax, people just love screwing up. Here’s also a page that teaches how to use them correctly.

UPDATE: Being a blogger it can help you to polish your “professionalism” (I bascially couldn’t resist on that one, but quotation marks seem right to me) when obeying the rules of punctuation. Read this blog entry on copyblogger.com

* This very blog entry seems to have way more educational value that former <insert class name of the entire Oberstufe>. NOT.

Some Tiny Little Troubles

Hello lieber Listener Reader,

Right now my blog is experiencing slight issues with CSS and other bits and bytes. So while I am juggling with 1s and 0s, you go enjoy a minimalistic look of PHIL’s Blogging. Oh in the meanwhile you can discuss whether or not I should go dot com: What do you think of philsblogging.com? Hm? I know pretty controversial. I just have to keep you guys busy…

Let’s hope thenew flashy fade thingy on the top of the page is back soon. I so freakishly loved that…

Bye Philipp

UPDATE: Since they released Wordpress 2.3 yesterday, I will seize the change to make this major update. Later on, I will correct the CSS files, that I screwed up again. I really hate CSS when it’s not doing what I’m coding. Geeez. If you’re wondering what CSS is: Stylesheets that make my website look wonderful.

OH and I just can’t believe how all of you are close to rioting about the dot com story. I wasn’t kidding about buying philsblogging.com :) I enjoy talking to you like that. I could go on like this foreeeever. Now I need to get back t updating and arranging the stylesheets.

Hello World!

Welcome to my little and smart blogging system. Since 13 August 2005 I’ve also joined the bloggers enthusiastically. I do love this way of getting in contact with my friends. And I hope you are going to take part of this.

“Wos is hiatz a Block?”

Berta - Ludwig - Otto - Gustav

Philipp
