Where We Encounter Brands

That “Typical Friday”

Jane had this smart idea to keep track of what brands she interacts on a typical Friday. It’s one of these ideas that every modern blogger picks up and is really mad at himself/herself for not coming up with this on his/her own. In fact, this method is quite interesting to think of brands you encounter on a daily basis.

The toothbrush company? Google? The supermarket you buy that lunch from? The cigarettes you smoke? Try to think of all the brands you are encountering right now? Your computer company is quite obvious (duh! I want “duh” to be a brand, quite honestly owned by me and I’d charge 5 cents per usage and get rich from obnoxious cheerleaders) but there are way more logos that surround you that you don’t necessarily have to be aware of. Mind-Mapping My Mind

Part 1 of The Ultimate College Guide

Very much indeed. I’m on my way to entering college next year. Or, let’s rephrase this and say that I should be on my way to college and spend hours thinking about what I want to make out of my life. After having been pestered with questions about future and what it should have in store for me, I finally decided to utter my ideas about this topic publicly, so that questions related with college/university are covered. This is my Ulimate Guide to Philipp’s College Decision. Hopefully I will be able to create a series out of this sujet and tell you about the whole process of finding, enrolling at and experiencing the branch of study I will have picked by August 2008. Lingo Bingo #8: So, My Boss Actually Digs* Me?

Having a weakness for another language makes you do weird things. Sometimes I encounter a phrase or joke in German that I have a hard time translating, where the internet bears a hand*. Most of the times this gets me the solution, I feel satisfied and can move on with life. Here is an example of hard-to-translate-phrase. German to English gave me a spinning head*…

Sunset and Sunrise

Browsing thru Thomas Hawk’s profile on zooomr.com I couldn’t help but post this awesome picture. If that doesn’t live up to your expectations of a prefect wallpaper, then go check out his archive. I adore his work. I’m sure there’s one shot you’ll fall in love immediately… — Sunset Over San Francisco.

Sunset Over San Francisco

A sunset tends to announce an end and the fact that it’s time for something new. I am practically done working at Dynea Austria. I enjoyed working there, thanks for all the kindness and have a great new year! I will rest up charging my batteries, so that I am ready for the next challenge: Community Service (Zivi) at the Red Cross Krems. Starting on January 2nd.

Caught Sleeping at Your Desk?

I know that this is being lazy, to just post an entry using digg.com. But I have to share this with you: What To Say When Get Caught Sleeping At Work. Number 5 is pretty good: “They told me at the Blood Bank this might happen.” read more | digg story

Scandalous!

Back home, I try to get into some sort of everyday life. Going out, sleeping, eating, relaxing, doing weird stuff online (drawing - check out this whole new art-thing!) Wow. I need to get a job in September. Life would be pretty boring and — heck, yeah — unaffordable (Ulrich is not the cheapest place to hang… vitalized tab water: EUR .50). Speaking of Ulrich: They need to get rid of this wannabe funny waiter. He is bugging me. Seriously.

Oh and here is a gallery of friends going out.

Future Is Calling Indeed

Today’s the day of getting things done for me. I have already made an important phone call with the Zivildienstagentur, which is the centeral coordination office of community service in all of Austria. Anyway, my social service job from January 2008 til September 2008 is confirmed. I look forward to being an ambulance man, yet, I am working on not throwing up when seeing blood. Kidding! :)
Another things that I need to get done soon-ish is my job for September til November. It would be pretty cool to get a job for the time that is left before I do community service since I do not want to sit at home all by myself. On top of that, I want to get this great Macbook and heck no, I don’t have the money left since my master-card (which I totally maxed-out, hahaha!!!) bills are steadily being delivered in my mailbox.
So anyway, keep you guys posted on that.

Picture by Flickr User desenfocadoflickr. Right next to the pile of Euros (that everyone would maximise) You can see a hint of a beer glass. Being back home, I am allowed to drink. It was fun, right Miki?

High School Cliques vs Office Cliques

Sometimes it is just amazingly funny. What a coincident: I had a presentation in my English class onAmerican High School. Thanks indexed. What can we learn from this? High School never ends. Never. Check out the song “High School Never Ends” by Bowling For Soup (lyrics).

Ergo: High School Never Ends...

Want to read more on American High School Cliques and the social pattern. Read my blog post called The Myth of American High Schools.
